1250 Kids

Today we announced that the Great Schools Fund will invest nearly $3 million in three Philadelphia public schools giving 1,250 more students access to high-quality K-12 schools. Read more about the investments:

The grants will support the growth of First Philadelphia Preparatory Charter School as well as two Mastery schools, Simon Gratz High School and Hardy Williams Academy, giving hundreds of young people a better chance at college and a successful career.

As Mark Gleason said, “The school budget crisis is a challenge for all public schools, but there are teachers and principals throughout the city who are still finding ways to create transformational change.”

To date, we’ve invested $34.4 million – that’s one-third of the way to our $100 million goal – in schools of all types in Philadelphia, including $20 million in public charter schools, $11.4 million in district schools and $3 million in private schools. These investments will give 15,000 more students a year access to a great education.
