It’s been only three months since Scholar Academies began to turnaround Kenderton Elementary, and they are already making tremendous progress partnering with parents to ensure students are on the path to college: Over 60% of families at Kenderton attended the first report card night, a huge increase from last year and a testament to Scholar Academies’ efforts.

All families deserve access to great schools like Kenderton. This fall, we’re working on three big initiatives to help empower parents across the city:

• Today, members of the Great Schools Compact – including charter, District, and Catholic schools – announced a big step to make the application process easier for families: The majority of schools will use similar, single-page application forms this year, available online at PhillySchoolApp.org. • GreatPhillySchools will launch a number of exciting new features in response to feedback from parents and students. Over the last year, more than 100,000 people have used GreatPhillySchools to find, compare and choose schools. Stay tuned for an announcement from the GreatPhillySchools team!

• To provide direct access to nearly all the city’s high school options, we’re working with more than a dozen nonprofit partners to host this year’s High School Fair for middle school students and their families.
