Last week, a bipartisan commission recommended a much-needed new formula for funding Pennsylvania public schools. We commend the commission and support its proposal, which weights school funding according to the needs of students in each district, including implementation of the formula for the upcoming school year.
 
Students and families have waited long enough for a fair funding formula. Let’s not make them wait anymore.

Coupled with real changes that address our most struggling schools, this funding policy will help give more Philadelphia students access to great schools. We urge the General Assembly to carefully consider the thorough work of the Commission and implement a new funding formula for the 2015-16 school year.
