PSP invests $1.8 million in two neighborhood schools

We’re excited to share some news with you: 500 more students in West Philadelphia will get the opportunity to receive a high-quality education with the support of a $1.8 million grant from our Great Schools Fund.

Our investment supports the expansion of Powel Elementary, one of the highest-performing neighborhood elementary schools in the entire city, and the launch of Science Leadership Academy Middle School (SLAMS) this fall. In partnership with Drexel University and the local community, SLAMS marries the success of Powel with the innovative model of SLA High School, bringing the quality of a magnet school education to a neighborhood school setting. Read more about it here.

The Fund has now invested more than $50 million to give nearly 20,000 students access to a great education. But we still have a long way to go to ensure every child in Philadelphia can attend a great school. Please contact us to get involved.
